A Change of NatureBro. David Chancellor

"You who were dead in trespasses and sins..." We all had a part in this at one time. We all walked a different course at one time. We all were children of disobedience at one time. We were going our own way. We don't want to be influenced by the devil to go our own way and scheme and work for that plan. We were by nature the children of wrath and chose to go our own way. An evidence of a wrathful nature is Cain murdering Abel. Children like to be exclusive. Everyone has that nature and by the grace of God we don't have to have that nature anymore.
1 Corinthians 3:1-5
Paul talks about adults that still possessed this nature. He told them that they were acting like children. The Lord gave salvation for everyone and he doesn't want us to be exclusive. When people are being this way there is a nature problem. If everyone will seek God we can all be the way he wants us to be. God has favored us all. There was a nature in these that was carnal. We want to be where God would have us be.
He's talking here about Jesus. He describes the coming of Jesus and the gospel day. Most people take the description in verses 6-9 as a description of the millennium. What is being described here is a change of nature. Wolves and lambs, lions and calves will not be together peacefully without a change of nature. The problem with humanity is also our natures. If "ye bite and devour" one another you have some people with wolf natures. Herod had a foxy nature. We can't put a collection of natures together and hope to build the glorious church of God. If the natures of ALL aren't changed the church will not be harmonious. For the church to prosper and do well, ALL are going to have to have a change of nature. "They shall not hurt nor destroy..." For it to be this way, we need the nature of God within.
Christ's prayer is for the whole gospel day - that we could have the same nature as Christ and God so we can all get together. You don't put the fox in the chicken house. When we get everyone's nature like Christ and God we can have the same unity as Christ and God. If we all get what Christ prayed for, there won't be any trouble keeping all together. God's plan is that we all fit in line with Christ and each other. If you're out of line with Christ, you'll be out of line with everyone else that has Christ's nature. We need to have Christ's nature and thereby get along. You can't take a nature unlike God and make it work his work. God can make a change in us, not just cover us up. The nature on the inside is what needs changed and God has provided a work for that.
2 Peter 1:2-4
He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. We were partakers of the nature of wrath, but through the divine promises we can partake of the divine nature. We can be lambs (not out to get anyone). The wolf doesn't have to fear the lamb. Lamb's aren't out to hurt or destroy. It's not their nature. When God can change the nature of men to have a genuine love and concern for each other, it is a more beautiful picture than literal lambs and wolves lying peacefully together. The important element of unity is the Spirit of God working on the nature of men. Without God's work in the heart of man, our efforts at church building are unsuccessful. Sectarian people set rules and regulations and end up with a pen full of all kinds of natures. Humanity with unchanged natures can almost get along, but it isn't anything like when God changes the nature.
