Hold FastBro. John Wilcoxin
2/19/2006 6:00 PM
Behold, I come quickly; hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
We have a crown that we need to hold on to. “…hold that fast which thou hast…”
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests; and we shall reign on the earth.
We can only understand this book if God opens it up to us. The book with seven seals are seven parts of one book. “…And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.” This is why we need God with us; because only he can open the book. No matter what is preached, it won’t be worth anything if God doesn’t open it to you. The 24 elders and the four beasts are the saints. God placed a crown on our heads, and gave us victory when he saved us.
Revelation 4:4-7, 10-11
And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. … The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
We can only have a crown if God gives it to us. The crown is our victory. (The church has the attributes of these four beasts.) We need to take all our victories and give them to God.
Revelation 5:11-12, 14
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. … And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
We need to say Amen to God because he is worthy. When the church gives God glory, the ministry should join in with the saints. We’re not to be worshipping the ministry. If God has used you, thank him for it.
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
We want people to “come and see.” The truths began to be revealed in the first seal. Jesus is worthy to open the seals. Every victory we win gives Jesus another crown. (A horse is a symbol of warfare.)
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Jesus is the one guiding the church. If we give him the reins, he’ll lead us to conquer. Where he leads us and into what warfare, we need to say Amen and fight. He takes us to war. He doesn’t have us running from war. There is conflict and opposition for us to face. When people know what you are, you better be prepared, because they’ll work to take your religion from you.
God may direct you to witness even when you’re not excited about it. When God sends you into battle, go and fight. In this war, you’ll have to judge between good and evil. We need to honor God with more victories.
What color is your horse? Red horse = against Christ; black horse = apostasy; pale/grey horse = death; white horse = with Christ. We need to view the word of God as precious. Don’t change horses; stay on the word of God. The battle of Armageddon is here and now. It is the battle between good and evil. Christ is faithful and victorious.
Revelation 19:7-8; Isaiah 61:10
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God, for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
If we don’t live holy, we won’t have victory. The white linen is righteousness. We need to fight for souls. Keep fighting even if it takes a while. God will get the victory. We don’t want to back up when God says to say something. Take God with you wherever you go. We need to carry the message wherever we go.
Ephesians 5:27; Revelation 1:5-6
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
When God washes us, that is when we will be made white.
And I saw, and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
When Jesus rode out on the white horse, he rode out to face opposition. Are we afraid to talk about God, when people in ages past gave their lives for him? We’ve been given vials to pour out on false religion. The vials have the wrath of God. We need to fight for souls. Talk to the religious souls. Work on leading souls out. Take the “come out” message to the world.
Acts 2:41; 4:4
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
This shows what happens when the church goes out to conquer.
Acts 19:18-20, 23-26, 28
And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
And the same time there arose no small stir about that way. For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth. Moreover ye see and bear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
The word and the church conquered, but then the opposition came. We have to persuade people to come in. Be ready. Study and carry a message with you. We’re still fighting spirits today.
Jeremiah 50:14-16; Revelation 6
Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the lord. Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the Lord: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her. Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.
And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another; and there was given unto him a great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And Power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held; And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
There is a time to put judgments back on these spirits. If we don’t, they will put judgment back on us. The devil puts things there and we need to stand up against it. Cut off the sower. Prevent the enemy from spreading false doctrine around you. The devil would love it if you don’t say anything. We need to defend the gospel. Keep trying. Feed them and fight for their souls.
Jeremiah 50:25, 29, 14
The Lord hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans. … Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the Lord, against the Holy One of Israel. … Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.
Work on melting the mountain of ice. Cut in a way that can be healed. Go out with love and concern. How will people know unless we speak? “…spare no arrows…” Talk to them and give them the word of God.
Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the Lord hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance of his temple.
Work on brightening your arrows. Study and know your Bible. Set ambushes for souls.
1 John 2:18; 4:3
Little children, it is the last time; and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Be able to explain. These are the spirits that we’re dealing with.
2 John 7-10; Revelation 16:14-16; 11:7; 12:17; 13:6-7; 17:14; 19:11
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth no in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I come as a thief, Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them; and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is the Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
The last day started when the church began. The devil will try harder and harder toward the end of time. Look at the battle. We must fight and stand for truth. They fight; the Lord fights. He makes war. Fight with God. Don’t leave it all up to him.
