Heed the Admonition and Gain the PromiseBro. David Chancellor

Christ was always careful to say the things God gave him. He revealed to his disciples what they ought to do. God wants us to be able to find our place and please him in it. John was inclined to share what God had shown to him. John wanted to do that which would please Jesus. "Blessed is he that READETH, and they that HEAR the words of this prophecy, and KEEP those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." There are things we need to do that we might stand before God. God doesn't speak for our entertainment, but that we might know what to do.
Daniel came to understand that the 70 years prophesied by Jeremiah were over with. He took action based on this understanding. He prayed that the prophesy be fulfilled. There comes a time for action. Daniel started praying for God to do the work.
God started working to fulfill the prophecy of Jeremiah. He moved on Cyrus who made a proclamation, and the work at Jerusalem was begun.
The admonition: Hear, remember, repent, and do the first works. If they were going to prosper they needed to do these things. God also left them the consequences (removal of the candlestick) and the promise (access to the tree of life).
The admonition: Fear none of the things which thou shalt suffer. The promise: These shall not be hurt by the second death. In an apostasy men would like you to believe that if you don't go along with them you'll be thrown out by God. Men might put you out here, but be more concerned about not hearing "depart" at the judgment. Don't put anything between us and one of God's people; especially don't let anything between you and God.
The admonition: Repent. The consequence for not doing it: I will fight against you (if the majority is on the opposite side from God it's bound to lose). The promise for the obedient: the blessing of God. We don't want to get to the place where God fights against us. The Word of God = hidden manna - unsearchable, beyond finding out by the world (conventional wisdom goes the other way). We want to find the things in the word which will feed our soul. God will provide for those that overcome.
Hold fast what you have - take ground and keep it. There might be a time when the major accomplishment is to hold on, but there is also a time for moving. "He that keepeth my works" will be given power and the morning star. Don't let go of the works of God. Maintain good works. If you don't keep the works you won't hold fast. Keep the works and receive power of God.
Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain, hold fast, repent. The overcomers will be clothed in white. "I will not blot out his name out of the book of life." Don't ever feel that you cannot fail. You don't HAVE TO fail, but it is possible. God will blot out the names of those that turn aside. Those that walk worthy God will keep and confess. We want to be owned and recognized of Christ before God. Will Jesus call you brother? or will he be ashamed to confess you before God.
These had kept his word and he kept them. Hold fast what you have. God is able to keep in the hour of temptation. Be sure no one takes your crown (don't give it up). If you're determined to make it through, no one can take it from you. We don't want to be content with how things are. Politics won't resolve the way things are, but prayer will. God's people need to call on him to do a work in him. Those that overcome will be a pillar in the church. God will claim you as his own.
Buy gold, white raiment, anoint your eyes, be zealous and repent. Don't settle for less than the real article; truth, righteousness. It's not self-righteous to live and do as God would have you to by his power. We need to be able to see and comprehend; not all things that are called enlightenment are that. It's a privilege to hear from God. We can share some things with God. We ought to fell honored by the presence of God. To the overcomer: reigning with Christ throughout eternity. The promise to those that give heed is important. Those that hear, act and do will have the promise. Be faithful to each thing that he shows you. Keep the things he shows you. All the things that go on around us are not as important as keeping the word God has showed us. Be faithful to teach and keep what God reveals.
