2 Corinthians 6:3-10
The office of the pastor is a serious and sometimes burdensome responsibility. God established the office of the pastor.
God will give pastors according to God's heart.
Ephesians 4:11; Jeremiah 23:4
God KNEW we would need a leader. He knew we would need a pastor to lead us. Can you be pastored? If you are saved and sanctified you will be able to be pastored. This is a rebellious age. People don't want to be told what to do by anyone. Be careful to be submissive to the one God has placed over you.
When you have a position in the church, you need to be careful. Stay in the place where the Lord has placed you. Don't let the enemy take advantage of you and cause you to be rebellious. They had no justifiable reason to rise up against Moses and Aaron, and against God. Disobedience leads to disrespect. They were mistreated in Egypt. How blind these ones had become! These ones were out of order, not Moses and Aaron. Moses did not want God to be wroth with all of them. The rebellious ones were destroyed.
1 Samuel 15:23
If you are being affected by a rebellious spirit, you are walking on dangerous ground. The pastors are to preach the word. Find out what "thus saith the Lord." We need to be not only hearers, but doers of the word.
The word of God will judge us in the end. This isn't a pick and choose gospel. If it is Bible we'd better take it. All that comes from God is good for us.
Sometimes judgment will come forth, and it is needful for it to come forth. God pastors his people a lot through the word. If we only obey when we lit it - we're in spiritual trouble. God expects us to obey his word as he has the pastor bring it forth.
Pastors need our prayers. It is a serious responsibility. God calls the watchmen. If the preacher doesn't preach it, God holds him responsible. However, if he will give warning that goes unheeded, he is clear.
A pastor is to "keep not silence". The pastor is to preach what the Lord gives him. We need to be teachable.
Don't go about to establish your own righteousness. We need to live by what the word of God teaches. Don't get out of order with God. "Preach the word." God expects us to be obedient to the word.
Obey those that have rule over you. He will give counsel for the good of your soul. Be submissive to godly counsel. Pastors are here for our soul's edification and help. Sometimes displeasure will be caused by the pastor, but the best thing you can do is submit to the truth. Can you be pastored?
"easy to be entreated" Pastors are to watch for your soul. There are some things that you need counsel for.
2 Kings 3:11-12; Proverbs 12:15; Proverbs 19:20; Proverbs 15:22; 2 Chronicles 20:20
Counsel is necessary at certain time. Seeking counsel can keep you out of trouble. Young people need counsel to avoid some of the pitfalls of life. Disappointments may come, but remember - God's way is best. The pastor is to be faithful to give what "thus saith the Lord." It may hurt sometimes, but it is given to help you. We ought to want to receive counsel.
The pastor is to tell you how it is, even if you go against him.
2 Timothy 2:24, 25
Sometimes people oppose themselves. Can you be pastored? Your pastor will have to give account of you at the day of judgment.
1 Timothy 5:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:12, 13
Have a respect for the pastor. Not just ANYONE can be a pastor, God must call them.
If God doesn't call you as a pastor you will fail. A pastor has a serious responsibility. Remember him in prayer daily.
2 Corinthians 3:5
Only God can make able ministers.
2 Corinthians 5:18
It is a ministry of reconciliation.
Ephesians 3:7, 8
1 Timothy 1:11, 12
Be faithful. A minister has great responsibility.
1 Thessalonians 2:4
A true minister is chosen and sent by God.
Can you be pastored?
1 Timothy 3; Titus 1
Bible qualifications of a minister are found here. When the pastor meets these and lives holy, get behind him 100%+
1 Peter 5:1-4
The congregation needs the pastor and the pastor needs you - and we all need the Lord to help us.
