Using our body in the Work of GodBro. David Chancellor

The body God has given us is more than just appearance and how others see and react to us. God created the body and put life in it. He gave man dominion over the plants and animals and gave him a work to do. There are still things for us to do today as far as using our body to work for the Lord.
1 Corinthians 6:12-20
The body is for the Lord. It is to be used for God. You have a body; that body is to be used for the work of Christ. He moves to accomplish his work in this world through us. He expects us to provide a physical body for him to use. You COULD use it for other things, but it SHOULD be used for Christ. Our body has a part to play, as does our spirit. We must have the Holy Spirit within. We need to glorify God in spirit AND body. Your spirit won't get much of God's work done if you're doing unholy things with your body. Ask: "Is this something Christ would approve of? Is it furthering his work? Is this what Christ would use his members for?" For all things are lawful, but not all things are expedient.
"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. If any man is living according to the fleshly desires and the direction of the carnal man - he is none of his. Life will be in your body as you live for Christ. People should see Christ in you. His spirit should produce the same life in our mortal bodies as it did in his mortal flesh when he was here. People were glad to be called Christians (Christ-like). The Spirit of Christ will produce that same life in us. We want to have the life of Christ within.
Ordinances to regulate the body are less needful when you have Christ, the internal regulator, within. When you have the power of God within you, you will do by nature that which is right. We don't want to just have a good show on the outside, but have that regulator within - that right spirit. Spiritual life will put a right motivation within. The attitude: "But everybody else does it" isn't the one we want. We want to operate under the policy of keeping our conscience clean and pure. If people would let the Spirit of God regulate their life, the standard of living would go up. The Spirit of God says "This is the way, walk ye in it." If we follow the regulator we won't be looking at others. Are you walking after the Spirit?
We need to fear God. The soul takes precedence over the body. Don't fear the one who can cause you physical harm, but that can't touch the soul. God can intervene in behalf of your physical well-being if you are submitted to his hand. Pilate was powerless to put Christ to death - he didn't want to put Christ to death. It happened because God allowed it. The ultimate punishment from man is to put to death. God is able to put the body and soul in everlasting punishment. That spirit on the inside shows up on the outside.
1 Corinthians 9:23-27
With the Spirit of God within, I can keep my body under subjection, and gain MY crown. We can know that we're pleasing to God. We can hear "Well done!" right here, and we can face him in the end with confidence. Let that spirit guide and direct your life. It's important what we do with our bodies.
