We are no longer strangers and foreigners when we are saved; we are built into God's building. His building is built on Christ. It is a building "fitly framed" or framed to fit. If you have been added to the body, you are part of the building. God's temple is built with people and is built to fit. God doesn't force you on in... but rather... you need to fill the place that God would have you to fill.
I Kings 6:1-7
The pieces were made to fit prior to being built. There weren't any noises of hammers, axes, etc. It all just fit. The pieces were made to fit before they were brought to the place of construction. God digs you out of the pit and cleans you up and he knows just where he is going to put you. He knows how to make you fit. God has to deal with things to make it fit to use. He sees the hidden flaws and he knows how to deal with those. God makes everything to fit just right.
Amos 7:7, 8
A plumbline is needed to check things to see if they are straight when you are building something. God's word and Spirit is a plumbline for us... we can use it to check our experience with it... see if we are in line with what God would have for us. God uses this plumbline to help his people come together and fit.
Isaiah 28:16, 17
Christ is the sure foundation. If you line up to Christ you will be straight. A good bricklayer lines things up first. Lay judgment to the line... be straight in both directions (judgment and righteousness)... They should be such that they are straight and clear. Follow the example of Christ. Live as Jesus would.
I Corinthians 3:9-11
We are laborers together with God. We need to contribute - we help make this building what it is. We need to make sure what we contribute is as God intended it. Take heed how you build. Take the time to do it right. Make it able to stand the test of eternity.
I Corinthians 12:17, 18
God knows where to put you. He knows what you can be used for and what you can accomplish. We want God to do this and not us. If God doesn't set us we won't fit. Don't try to arrange things for yourself or others. God can see what we cannot see, and so we want him to use each one in the way HE sees best. We want to be in harmony and in agreement with God's working.
Just shoving more mud around it is not the sort of construction God does. He doesn't want us to build his church with untempered mortar and daubing. Lots of churches today are put together with politics. We aren't interested in doing a daub job. It causes a lack of strength. It does make a difference how things are put together - it has to fit. We could build loosely, but it is better to let God do it, because he does it right. There are some things that don't work with God. We can't be loose and sloppy. Be made to fit. Let God do the building, setting and preparation on the heart and it will be fitly framed together. God's church is a building made to fit by the Spirit and the word of God. Check your life out, see if you fit and come in line with God. Be a part that adds strength and beauty to the building.
