2 Peter 1:1
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
To them that have obtained like precious faith We can have the same faith that Peter had. This goes beyond understanding. Peter and Paul didnt always understand the same things, but they had the same faith. Faith is something that takes hold of God and has the assurance of God. It is faith that causes us to believe. The prophets had feelings and emotions just like we do. God worked in their lives just as he can work in ours.
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
These men wanted to be able to see. Jesus asked them, Do you believe that I can do this? According to your faith be it unto you. Whatever we believe for is what we will receive. God does for us what we ask for. Too often wed like to ride on the faith of someone else. Work at building your faith. Faith, at times, requires some action from us. Learn to exercise and use the faith that you have, but also increase your faith.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which were many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And he said unto another, Follow me. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said unto the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
This woman came and washed Jesus feet to show her gratitude to him. This Pharisee doubted who Jesus was. The woman was so convinced of whom Jesus was, that she came and did what she did. Jesus forgave her sins because of her faith. You cant find salvation without faith. You have to have faith to believe that Christ has saved you. You have to have a personal faith in what Christ has done. You cant be saved on someone elses faith. Salvation is based on a personal faith in God.
And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
This woman had tried everything, but was no better. She was a bashful believer. She didnt want to draw attention to herself; she just wanted to touch him and be healed. People need to have their faith to be inspired. Jesus wanted them to see her faith. She explained why and what happened when she touched him.
A lack of faith hinders Gods work in our lives. Be concerned about how faith is working in you. Dont focus on others and make excuse. Build your faith. Draw close to God.
Then Jesus went thence, and departed in to the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Jesus told her that it wasnt the Gentiles time yet. Some might say, Its not time yet. Faith can help us to get our needs met regardless. She wouldnt take no for an answer. Some of the Gentiles had greater faith than most of the Israelites. The Israelites hindered each other. Our faith collectively is dependent on our faith personally. Spend time with God. This is how your faith grows. Claim Gods promises as your own.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
This is what we need to do. Build up your faith. Pray. Spend time with God. Talk to God about his word. Keep your faith. Use it. Let it grow. Its one of the most valuable things you can have. Have a personal faith in God. Count on God to bring you through. Work on increasing your faith.
