Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Faith is a very real part of the human existence. This father saw the battle within himself with unbelief. This is a real and significant battle. Hope and faith have much to do with the kind of life we live. Unbelief is more significant than something that comes against our faith. Its a real struggle for humanity. It is a very serious matter (the unbelieving will have a part in the lake of fire.) Were not just fighting sin; were fighting unbelief.
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Sin brings the judgment of God on us. The other part of the problem is unbelief. People dont believe that God can deliver from the power of sin. God provided a way to deal with the problem. People need to have faith in Gods answer.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Christ came so we wouldnt have to be condemned. Men are condemned because of unbelief. They dont believe God can take care of their case. Sin isnt the whole problem; part of the problem is unbelief. Without faith in Christ, condemnation will reign.
And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts to drink. And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the Lord, and he was sanctified in them.
Because Moses didnt believe, he didnt get to see Canaan. Because of unbelief, people are cheated out of what God would give them. Everyone, both great and small, battles with unbelief. The disciples battled unbelief. It is a battle for all who walk with God. Moses was a great man and close to God, but he battled with unbelief. We may face difficult things, but we can cry out to God to help us to believe.
1 John 5:10
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
Unbelief makes us question one whose word is always true. We act like God is a liar if we doubt his word. Our faith is built on the trueness of God. The situation may make it hard to believe, but we can cry out to God for help. The devil would try to make God out to be a liar, when he is the liar. God is worthy of our faith. Our faith is based on Gods character. He will not be untrue. Put your faith in him. He wont let us down. Hes true to his word. Put your trust in him.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Because of your unbelief The disciples problem came from unbelief. If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed nothing shall be impossible unto you A mustard seed is a small seed. Just have faith any amount of faith. The devil would use unbelief to steal your faith. Keep faith. Faith is what will bring you through. The devil would show you lifes impossibilities. Keep your faith and put it to work. Plant your seed of faith and watch it grow. We can resist the devil whether were a baby saint or a great saint. By faith we can defeat the devil. God makes it possible for us to overcome. Fight the fight of faith. Battle against unbelief. When Jesus comes back, will he find faith? If you keep it, he will. You may feel weak, but just hang on to faith. Exercise the faith you have. Things will work to destroy your faith. Keep it with care. People stay in sin because of unbelief. Have faith in God. Paul faced many things, but he kept the faith. Unbelief would steal your reward. Hold fast to your faith.
