1 Corinthians 3:6-9
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are Gods husbandry, ye are Gods building.
We should work together with God. This is Gods work. It is ours to fit into his plan. We can see our part, but God sees the whole plan. He sees more than we can begin to comprehend. Our mission is to work with him.
He that planteth and he that watereth are one. They are one in purpose because they are trying to achieve Gods plan. They are one in position they are workers with God. This oneness is destroyed when self enters the picture. Selfishness causes a different purpose and objective. If we would be one, we need to be workers together with God. Worrying about who will get the credit causes a roadblock to the success of Gods purpose and cause. Realize that if it is done right, God will get the glory and the attention. People need to see Jesus as the answer for their lives. We need to stop worrying about our desires and seek his purpose and his cause.
2 Samuel 12:13-14
And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
David had sinned. God spared him and forgave him, but he pointed out the damage that Davids sin had caused to Gods cause. People will see something. We have a message that we want people to get. People hear, but they also see what we do and what we say. If you arent careful, you can give occasion to those that would blaspheme God. People see our lives in the guarded and in the unguarded moments.
If we would be workers together with God, we need to have a life that doesnt detract from his cause. Our lives need right deeds, actions and attitudes. We need to think about what our lives show to others. David was a great hindrance to the cause of God. The bad deeds stuck out and were noticed. We need to be very careful about what we say and do. Think about the audience. Think about the impact of your words and actions on those who hear and see them.
2 Corinthians 6:1-5
We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
We dont want to give offense, because we dont want the work of God to be blamed. Weve been entrusted with a great deal. We want to benefit those were entrusted with. You never know what kind of an impact you will have on others. There are seeds planted that can bear fruit years later. We want people to be drawn to Christ. We dont want to do anything that would be a hindrance to others finding Christ.
