Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
No man cometh to the Father but by me Jesus was the true representation of God. He showed Gods compassion. He showed us that God truly loved mankind. The law showed us many things about God through types and shadows. Jesus brought the picture into clear focus. Sometimes people miss the message; these missed it, and it was God standing in front of them. It takes the Spirit of God to open the understanding of man. The types and shadows were there to help us know that Jesus was the Christ. He brings us the true picture of God and what he can do for man.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Truth came through Jesus Christ. He came and spoke the words of God. These words encourage purity and holiness in mankind. They can make a change in the heart of man.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
The Word was Christ, and Christ was God. Christ has as much a part of creation as God did. He was God. Our creation and existence depend on him. Man seems to like to have a man to introduce him to God. Men like to look to me, but God can speak to us individually if well let him. The truth and light are wrapped up in each other, and both are in Christ. The light works on our spirit as well as our minds. We need that which will keep us going. We want the grace and strength Christ gives to help us through. The law can teach us things and help our understanding. Grace and truth come through Jesus Christ. Jesus declared God to us. Jesus was the example and the embodiment of God. He lived the life he wants us to live. The truth and the life come together. We need the life to be part of us. He came to help us to be what hed have us to be. Just knowing doctrine isnt enough. The truth rightly applied will bring life within.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
God reveals us his will and his purpose. Hes the life and he wants that life in us. If you dont seek to walk with God, you wont have the life. God said that he would send the Spirit so that we could have life. We can receive it because Christ came to provide it.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Christ came to give life to all who need it. This is the plan God established for mankind. He wanted us to have a personal contact with him. Christ came to make it available to everyone. Through Christ we can have life within us. We can talk to God ourselves. Christ showed us the relationship we can have with God and provided that relationship to us..
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
The Spirit of God will guide into all truth. When we come to God, we dont understand much. God can open up his word to us. He helps us to grow and increase as much as were able to take in. God brings us along as we can bear it. Let the Spirit work on people as he sees fit. Dont try to force too much too fast. God can feed us in just the right way to keep us healthy. God can talk to us at all places, not just in church. He can talk to us just when we need the message. This is a walk with God, a life with God. We need the Spirit of God to help us apply the word to our lives. We want something that will help make our lives be what God intended. People will notice when we have the life of Christ in us. God gives us the truth and shows us things and then he helps us to live it.
