A clear conscience - the full assurance of faithBro. David Chancellor

(God has an offering that was made for our perfection and sanctification.) The Holy Ghost is the witness of the covenant. This is how God wrote his law on our heart. If the writer of the law is within, you will know all the law of God. Many people are still content to live under the "thou shalt" or "thou shalt not..." If the Holy Ghost is in your heart you will desire to live and serve God and won't sin anymore. When the Holy Ghost is within there is no more reason for offerings. "Let us draw near..." Having our conscience wiped clean and our path made straight. The things done by our body need to be pure as our heart is pure. We can draw near to God with our hearts full of faith. We want to have confidence towards God. Don't do anything to destroy that assurance toward God.
1 John 3:19-22
"Let us draw near with a true heart with a full assurance of faith..." We need a pure conscience to have assurance. A clear conscience is what gives us assurance that we are of the truth. It's not because we have all the doctrines down (though the doctrines are important). It is important that we have a clear conscience. Don't think that God can't see what is in your heart. If you know there is a problem there - God knows too. You might be ignorant of some problems, but, for sure, if you know about it, God knows about it. Sometimes we know about the problems because GOD told. A clear conscience makes it easy to come into the presence of God. If our heart doesn't condemn, then you can have confidence towards God. You have to know where YOU stand. Our life should be above reproach and above question. Others should be able to see what life we live. We need to be able to see what life we live. We need to know what our standing with God is - regardless of if others question. We need to have confidence and assurance where God is concerned. You HAVE TO know where your standing is with God. Our assurance can't be based on someone else's "think so." We need to have confidence towards God. We must keep his commandments and be pleasing toward him to have a clear conscience, but we can't let someone else's opinion keep us from having confidence with God.
He is giving the people a warning to be careful in their standing and walk with God. He says he is not saying because he feels they are that way. It is a warning. We want to be sure of our standing and keep our confidence in God. If you live and do what's right, God won't forget. He sees the life we live, and he won't forget. We can't coast on past works. We need to continuously live right. Draw near to God and have full assurance. God is taking note of what we do. Continue to be diligent. Don't get lazy. Don't let down in the race. Don't let things draw you aside. We, too, can inherit the promises. God sees and takes note of the good as well as the bad.
2 Timothy 2:19
The Lord knows who is and who isn't his. As long as we have a clear conscience towards God we can know we are his. Man doesn't know for sure, but has made it his business to keep the record. God knows who is his. Man may commend, but that doesn't mean you're God's. It will show up in your life. It is a source of confidence to know that God knows who is his. God won't slip and leave one of his sheep out of heaven. He knows who belongs and who doesn't. God knows who his people are. Keep a clear conscience toward God and regardless of what others think, you can be sure that you are his. God knows what your standing is. He will know who is his. After the apostle Paul got saved, there were some that didn't know if he was God's and they weren't too sure they wanted to be around him. Barnabus helped him out. Humanity may not know sometimes, but God knows. He knows them that are his. We need to get settled that God knows the ones that are and the ones that aren't. Be sure with God.
God was willing that we have a strong place to stand. We want a strong consolation and a sure place to stand. The opinion of man is "shifting sand." If you put your confidence in God and his recognition of you, it is a place of strong consolation. When you know things are right between you and God, you can't find a better place than that. The only place of confidence is when you know that God accepts you. The devil can really influence the opinions of men. People can form an opinion on almost nothing, but God knows and everything will fall into place. You can bear a lot of things when you know things are right between you and God. We can have an anchor - sure and steadfast.
2 Peter 1:10, 11
"Wherefore give diligence to make your calling and election sure..." Make sure you are in good standing with God. This is the important thing. "If ye do these things you shall never fall..." Make sure your calling is sure. You can't build on others; make sure you calling is with God. Keep a clear conscience towards God, do his commandments and these things that are pleasing toward God. Have confidence with you and God. Keep things right between you and God, and everything else will fall into place. He knows who is his and he won't desert or fail even ONE of his people.
