Be Strong in the LordBro. David Chancellor

We need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. He left us in a wicked world and he wants us to be strong. It is not OUR strength or abilities; of ourselves we are not strong. It is God's strength. There is a lot of pressure to get involved in things, and people get involved in sin because they aren't strong enough to resist.
2 Timothy 2:1
Be strong by God's grace. Find the strength that is there. We can overcome the world as Christ did.
Joshua had taken on the great responsibility left by Moses. God told him to be strong. God's emphasis in encouraging him to be strong wasn't on the battle, but staying where God wanted them to be, to stick with the word of God. Joshua had to deal with those that would pull him away from the law of God. We need strength to stand for the word of God. There are things that will pull us from the word of God. We need to be settled on God's word and what it says. We cannot depart from God's word. Stand firm on the word. If you stand on God's word you'll be successful. When commandments of others come we need to go with God's commandments. When you're doing God's commandment, be strong and of a good courage. Fear comes under the heading of "What if..." Keep doing God's commandments even if it doesn't turn out like you thought. As long as we stay where God wants us to be, he'll be with us. It is not a position of strength when we leave off God's commandments to follow someone else's.
Deuteronomy 33:24, 25
"As thy days so shall thy strength be..." No matter what we face God has strength for us for all that we face. God helped the martyrs to have strength through a slow painful death. Pressures and things try to work on us and God still has strength for us for whatever we encounter. He has the power to overcome today even as he did back then. The teaching of man is that the strength of God is not for our day, but God is still powerful and can provide help and strength to us.
We want God's glory in our life. He can be the beauty of God's people. There's a beauty in God's people that the world knows nothing about. God's people can see the beauty of holiness in the heart and life. He can give strength in battle. He can help us to be victorious.
We need that inner strength, not just a physical strength or a strong will. We need to overcome the world and its ways. When troubles come we need that inner strength. Christ was able to stand in his day. It's a strength that helps you to stand ... or to sit and take it. Sometimes it takes more inner strength to sit still and let God move as he will to take care of the problem than it does to act on it. Without God's help we won't be able to accomplish what God wants to get done. It is the Spirit of God within his people that makes the difference.
Isaiah 41:10, 11
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God..." He promised to strengthen us. If we aren't able for it we just have to seek him for strength. His strength is what we are counting on. We can count on him because he is our God. When we decide we'll handle the situation it may not turn out right, but those that oppose God won't win. If we'll stay with God we'll come out victorious. We don't use carnal weaponry; we don't return evil for evil. With God on our side we have assurance of victory. Just do what God says. Do your part. Do what God says do and be courageous in doing it.
God doesn't get tired; his strength is unlimited. We can draw upon the strength of God. Even those that seem to be strong fail when they go on their own strength. Wait on God; he'll give you strength. He will help us be strong in all we face. Wait on God so that your strength will be renewed. Keep your confidence in him. Count on him, wait on him, lean on him and he'll renew your strength and bring you through. Stand firm on his word. Be strengthened in the inner man. We can live a Christian life today. He can bring us through with victory.
