Hope

Faith is what we need to operate today. Hope is what we look forward to.

1 Thessalonians 5:5-9
Our relationship to God should be clear; that we are the children of light. You either are or you aren't a Christian and you will know whether you are or aren't. We don't want to lay down on the job in our Christian experience. Be sober. Have faith and the hope of salvation. Keep your eye on the prize that waits. He gives us the hope of eternal salvation. God delivers from the power of sin here, but you haven't made heaven yet. He gives the promise of heaven. Some have no hope. Some have a false hope. Some have a true hope, founded on Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:20-25
Hope is the unseen. We have not received that which is to come in the resurrection. We can hope for that which he will provide. There are things ahead that we haven't experienced, yet. We have reason to expect this because of the faith we have in God. Faith comes by hearing; hope comes by experience.

Colossians 1:3-6
Our hope is laid up in heaven. It is well-cared for there. We can look forward with expectation to the place prepared for us. Is there a place reserved for you in heaven? Others might fail, but God can help every soul to make it if they will trust him.

Colossians 1:27
Christ is the source of hope. Just being religious isn't enough. The weakness of others is a false hope. Our hope of heaven should not be built on our own conceit. Hope of heaven is built on Christ dwelling in you. Some base their hope in their religion. If you don't have Christ in you, you have no hope of heaven. The church won't take you to heaven. It is Christ in you that brings a hope of heaven. If we would have a hope to bring us through it must be based in Christ. Jesus in the heart of man is what gives us the hope of heaven. If you are holding a false hope, throw it away and get the true hope - Christ in you.

Hebrews 6:10-20, 9, 8
We expect better things. There are things that accompany salvation - like a holy life. There are things that are manifested in the life. A false hope will make you feel good in life, but will fail you in the end when it is too late. God won't forget. You have reason to expect a reward. Be diligent. This is what gets the reward. Keep your eyes on the hope. People would be better workers for God if they would get their eyes off men and on God. God's reward is sure to them that are faithful. Abraham received the reward. God made him a promise. He has made us an even greater promise. If we will be faithful, the reward is waiting up ahead. Heaven can be an anchor, a steadying force, for our souls. Where is our hope? It is in the very presence of God.
