What then? are we better than the? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips; Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilt before God.
This describes the condition of the world. It's an accurate picture of the world. We are in a world that's at war. There is war and fighting all over the world. There's much religion, but many aren't seeking after God as they ought. The world is in a mess, because humanity has strayed away from God. It's a mess because the heart of man is a mess. There's unrest in every country. Palestinians and Jews are both under sin, thus the fighting. The world is in a sad state and condition.
Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear; For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth there in shall not know peace.
God is still God and able to work in the affairs of men. There is a separation between man and God because of sin. Men are making light of sin and portraying it as an enjoyable thing. God could call this world to a halt and say, "it's enough." Things are as they are because humanity has gone as they have. Where is the peace that is being talked about today? The way of peace is not known by sinful man. A man continuing in sin is in rebellion against God. Sin is rebellion against God. Many are living as though they believe there is no God. Sinners are estranged from God. Humanity in sin has no peace. That's how it will be so long as people are content with their lives of sin.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Where is what the angels talked about? There is no peace when men continue in sin. Don't expect to find peace among sinful men. Peace is between man and God. Mankind does not have peace with God because they are at war with him. They're spitting in the face of God as they continue to sin. The fact that humanity is at war with God is not God's fault. He sent an ambassador to bring peace. Sin separates families. Hate in the heart brings a separation between souls and their God. Yet, God sent Jesus, his only Son. He sent his son, but mankind is refusing to allow him to rule. God sent Jesus with the message of peace and goodwill. He invites us to cease hostilities and break down the wall of separation between us and him. There will be no peace in eternity if there is no peace on earth. We need to be at peace with God here. In every peace there are conditions. Both sides want to walk away looking good. Christ paid the price that we could have peace with God here and now, if we'll receive it. Man needs to hear the message of what the angels sang. Until all of humanity makes peace with God, don't expect humanity to make peace with others. "Peace" is sought for their best interests. Until the conditions for peace with God are met, and peace with God is made, there won't be peace among men. If you continue in the life of sin, you're not facing things square. If sin is there, that person is not a good person. If sin is there, you're still denying God. Until you submit to God and use your life to live out God's plan, there is a separation between you and God. God's goodwill is still offered to us. There needs to be a change in us so that we are not doing wickedness and acts of rebellion against God. The plan God made was the only way he could be both just and the justifier. Christ brought the message of deliverance from the war of the past. Through Christ, we can walk with God in agreement.
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
We honor Christ because he was God come down to man. He came to reconcile us to God. We were alienated. There was a rift between us and God. We were enemies with God. Yet, through the blood of Christ, there's been a change. There's now no difference, no problem, between us and God. Some religions agree to peace with God, but then continue the hostilities. It's a pretend peace when you claim to be at peace with God and still continue to sin. It's ridiculous to claim peace with God and continue to sin and rebel against God. It's a pretend peace when our sins and acts of rebellion haven't ceased. It's a good thing when all is clear between you and God. It's good when you are holy, unblameable, and unreproveable. You can have real reconciliation in Christ. Christ came to pay the debt. He came to provide deliverance from the power of sin. He came so we could walk with God as his friend. The world is in a sad condition, but it doesn't have to be so. The message of peace on earth wasn't a baby, but a Savior. In ourselves, we can't meet the conditions of peace and reconciliation with God. By the blood of Jesus, we can be changed and made clean. The condition prohibiting peace must be removed and taken out of the way.
2 Corinthians 5:17-20
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
There is a change. It's not the same old life. God reconciled us to himself by Christ. If you are reconciled to God, it was by the blood of Christ. You either have peace with God or you don't. Those who have been reconciled to God have a mission. It is to tell others that they can have peace with God here and now. We need to tell others that there is no more reason to be at war. They can have the same reconciliation that we have. There's no longer and excuse for any soul to be at war with God. Are you reconciled to God? Has your life of sin ceased? If not, we beseech you, be reconciled to God. There can be peace. Men could have peace if they would be reconciled to God. The world will continue how it is until the hearts of people have been changed.
