Psalm 65:1-4

Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away. Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

God is to be praised, honored, and lifted up among men. God is to be worshipped. He invites us to come to him in prayer. Every man is invited. Blessed is the man whom thou choosest God chose us and made us one of his people. Its wonderful to know that youve been chosen by God to be one of his people. Each one that serves God is special to God.

James 2:5-6

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

Mans choosing and Gods choosing are different. Gods choice is not always how man would do it. Man wouldnt choose the poor. Good chose those that didnt have it all together yet. When God did the choosing, we didnt have all the faith, and our lives were a mess. He didnt choose us because of all our great qualifications. God desires to save us, even though were not worthy. Where did James get the idea that God had chosen the poor?

Deuteronomy 7:6-8

For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

James had the heritage to help him to know that God had chosen the poor. The Israelites were slaves, and a small nation, when God chose them to be his people. They were in a sad condition when God brought them out. We shouldnt despise others, no matter what their condition is. God can help them if theyll let him help them out. James was trying to remind them of where they had come from. God wouldnt have us to despise the poor.

Ephesians 1:3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Gods choosing was that all men would be saved. He would bless us with spiritual blessings in Christ. Everyone that rejects Christ rejects Gods choosing. We can reject Gods choice if we want to. People have done this for various reasons. The rich young ruler rejected Gods choice for mans choice. Some reject God to be approved of men. Some seek the approval of man in hopes that they can receive some benefit. Doing this is worse than what Esau did. This is to reject what God has given for our benefit.

1 Peter 2:9-10

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

On the day of Pentecost, Peter didnt speak to the Jews as a chosen generation. This was written to the strangers, those who werent Jews. The Jews had rejected Gods choice. Peter realized that God wanted all people to be his chosen people. The Jews can have this if they will choose God. Peculiar doesnt mean strange, but special or chosen of God. God chose all of mankind to be his people. He wants everyone to be saved and right with him. We are the people of God; his chosen ones. God chooses simple, common, everyday people. Whoever you are, wherever youre at, God can choose you. God wants everyone. Hed have each one of us to be a holy nation. Give the invitation to others. Gods choosing and inviting you, if you dont already know him.
