This book is symbolic and prophetic. It is not only important to understand the symbols, but to understand the interaction between them. These angels were holding the winds of the earth. In Ephesians it makes the point that our standing needs to be such that we won't be blown about by winds of doctrine. The winds of doctrine are here being held in check. This angel was going to seal the people of God. If you don't have the seal of God about you, you are going to get hurt.
Jesus had the seal of God upon him. Those that would be sealed by God should seek after him. Christ was the first to have the kind of relationship with God that we should have. He brought it down to man. He made it possible for us to have the seal of God put on us.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
Our stability and ability to walk with God is given to us by God. The source of our strength is God. We can't walk in our own abilities. If you don't have the presence of God, you will not be able to walk as God would have you to. If it is clearly established that you are a child of God, it is because God put it there.
"...ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise..." This is the Spirit that was promised by Christ. He is the means whereby we are sealed. If God hasn't worked a spiritual work in your heart, you haven't been sealed. We need to have God's Spirit. This is a spiritual seal that God puts on his people.
You are sealed by God's Spirit. Your standing with God rests on this question, "has God come in yet?" Are you wearing God's name? Adoption makes you one of his. He claims you and will take care of you. When God saves us, it makes him responsible for us. You don't have to be tossed about by every wind. We can know and understand some things because of the presence of God's Spirit.
2 Timothy 2:19
This is the seal: The Lord knows them that are his. Stand on this sure foundation - God knows who is his. He's not in any confusion or doubt about it. There should be assurance. We should know that Jesus is here. If you don't have this assurance, seek God until you do. We need the help and grace the early Christians had when they faced persecution. The seal of God doesn't come from man. Jesus was God come down to man. The seal of God is the only means whereby we can have the Spirit of God in our hearts.
Every tribe came out even. All of these were Jewish tribes. If only 144,000 made it, then the Gentiles were left out. Yet, it is showing here that grace was equally available to each tribe. It didn't stop at the borders of Israel. He sealed a great multitude that no man can number. Everyone in the world has access. If people don't have it, it isn't because God didn't provide it. No one has excuse for NOT being sealed by God. It has been made available. It is for all nations and kindred and people. Everyone that is saved enters in with the wedding garment - Christ's righteousness. You have to come through the door, Christ. Does God say you are Christian? You're marked as a Christian when you receive it. It is not measured on how much you know. When the blood washes away your sin and you have the presence of God you are sealed. Be sure that your calling and election is sure. Make sure it's still there. Don't do things that will cause God to withdraw his presence. God is holding off some things so that souls can be saved. When God says, "enough" it will be too late. Sin brings great hurt and damage. If you aren't sealed, there is hurt ahead. Even in this life, if you live in sin, there is hurt ahead. Sin brings hurt. There is no worse sin than rejecting the sacrifice of God's son. Are you sealed?
