"There is no peace to the wicked"Bro. David Chancellor

The prophet was speaking about the condition of the Israelites and how God sees things. God knows what is really going on with mankind. God's dwelling place extends beyond the "high and holy place" to the heart of the humble and contrite. Mankind doesn't always see the troubles like they are. We need a genuine love and concern for our fellowman. There is a picture painted of the wicked here: "...the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace... to the wicked." The troubles of the wicked begin in the here and now. They have a sad plight waiting in eternity, but they are also in a sad condition even now. They look for peace, for relief. It is a sad condition to be without rest in your soul.
Deuteronomy 28:58, 59, 65-67
This people would not obey God. The wicked of today are also in this condition. Sin is not a title, but an act. The sinner does that which God would not have him to do. Sin is disobedience to God and his will. Moses was helping them to see how it would be if they went this way. The one not serving God has opened himself up to all kinds of fears. With every guilty soul there is fear residing in the heart. They flee when no one pursues. Guilt causes this. People would think their sin is covered, but the guilt will still be there and sorrow of mind. There is no rest while the load of guilt rests on your soul. The sinner holds on to a false hope. The soul looking for God will find him. If you are hoping to "some day" find God, you have a false hope. D.L. Moody didn't like to see people put off their salvation. He realized that there may not be a tomorrow for a soul. God is faithful to help people to see their need of him. If we would find God, we must seek him for help in the life we are living now. Today is the day of salvation.
1 John 4:18
This describes the condition of the wicked: "Fear has torment." Those that have fear and guilt have torment. It is sad for people to go through life in torment, especially when they don't have to be. "There is no fear in love." When love is as it should be, you don't have to fear. Where a loving relationship exists, there will not be a fearfulness between the parties. We don't have to be afraid of what God will do because we know that all is clear between us and we love him. We will have reverence and awe, but not fear. We can have assurance that all is well between us and God because we know he loves us. We don't have to have torment.
Christ speaks this to the wicked. There is no differentiation between the wicked and the sinner. God offers rest to the sinner. Christ will cast out fear, absolve the guilt and bring perfect love and rest. Paul told Timothy, "God hasn't give us the spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind." The place of rest is found in Jesus. The invitation is, "Come to Jesus." Christ can give you rest. Man would go every way but with Jesus. Other ways don't provide what Jesus can provide. Christ can dwell with the meek and lowly. We can have assurance that things are right between us and God. We must seek him and he will give us peace.
1 Peter 5:6-7
When we can humble ourselves and cast all our care on him, we can find rest. We can unload everything on him. We need to put all our anxiety, distraction and care on God. You can get your focus back when you do this. Cast it all on him. You'll never find contentment and rest for your soul outside of Christ.
