God cares about ALL humanity. It's amazing what a difference a week can make. Our response to life's happenings is important. We can either draw closer to God or blame God.
God is a jealous God that is ABLE to take vengeance on his adversaries. God is able to deal with wrong and set things right where it needs to be done. Because of this we can trust in him and know he will take care of things. Some might ask why God let it happen, but we know that God works in mysterious ways. "The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him." He allows things to work and happen, that he might deal with the hearts of men.
Lists various things in the way of troubles that came upon them "yet ye did not return to me." God's message is "return to me." Prepare to stand before God. Don't plan on coasting till the end and then getting right. Even if you DO get right, it's a wasted life with much sorrow and hurt in its wake. There are times when we suffer with everyone else. God knows what's best and will draw people to himself.
Many turn to the one that corrects them, but these weren't doing that. As God allows these things to happen, it is so we will be drawn to God. If people never had any troubles, how could you shown them you care? "A friend in need is a friend indeed." Seek the Lord; turn to him; find his grace and help.
Jesus looked at the events of his day and asked "were these worse than every one else?" No, they were just like everyone else. God works to deal with souls and that others can see true love and concern manifested. We don't want to look down on others who are in troubles. God would reach to all mankind. He'd have us all look to him and recognize he still loves and cares. "Come unto me and I will give you rest." "All things work together for good to them that love God..." God would work good in all things.
2 Corinthians 1:3-7
"He is the God of ALL comfort." He comforts us in ALL our troubles, that we may be able to comfort those that are in ANY trouble. God would have us to be a comfort to those about us who are in trouble. Find comfort in God and pass it on to others. If we're going to find out how God helps we will have to have some troubles. Turn to God for his consolation and salvation. He wouldn't have us question "Why?" but to come and receive comfort of him. God wants us to represent him as a God of comfort that is willing to help.
