Everyone has the opportunity to be part of God's church. It is the will and plan of God that every man be able to make it through to heaven. Some may reject his will, but his will is still that ALL be saved.
Christ asked his disciples: "Who do people say I am? Who do YOU say I am?" It needs to be answered by each of us. Who do we say he is? He is the Christ, THE living SON OF GOD. We need to have this same revelation to our heart. Christ was unique to all others. This revelation needs to become real to us. It is the rock his church is built on. He brought salvation to our soul by dying for our sins. Any church but the one that Christ built is false. There is nothing that can prevail against the truth that Christ is THE ONE. There is ONE Jesus, the Christ, the son of the living God. Unless you faith is in the blood of Jesus, you won't make it. We have been provided entrance into the kingdom of heaven. There is a great responsibility that has been placed in our hands.
The word, "heaven", means many things: the firmament or sky; the place where God dwells; the spiritual realm; God's church. The passage in Matthew 16:19 ~ "Whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Whatever you pass judgment on regarding others, be prepared to have it passed on you. There is a great responsibility we have. It will come back to us whatever we do. It is important how we treat others, and what we say and do, if we are to claim to be part of God's church. We need the truth that we might be free. Freedom is to allow us to do what God would have us to do. People have lost sight of what our freedom really means.
1 Peter 4:14-19
What was Christ hated for/ It was for saying he was the son of God. If you are reproached for believing he was the son of God and all those who are saved are joint-heirs, be happy. It brings joy to the heart of the Christian to be told that Christ is seen in your life. You want your suffering to be for Christ, not for all the bad things you have done. "For the time is come that judgment must begin in the house of God." We can't put judgment on sin and wickedness without being untouched by it. The standard of holiness won't be upheld by using it to measure others and not ourselves. If we don't measure up to what God would have us to be, we can't tell others that they need to measure up. We need to live out the gospel. The judgment needs to begin with us. "If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?" If we are just barely getting by, the ungodly and sinner won't see Christ in us. We need to have it settled to live for God.
Having the keys to the kingdom is a wonderful thing. Will you open the door for others or will you stand in their way and block the door? The Israelites had the Old Testament. They should have recognized Christ when he came. Yet they instead prevented those that would have gone in (see John 9). They tried to stop it. They did things to hinder truth, that the son of God has come. We have a great responsibility. Are we causing others to desire the kingdom? or are we turning them away? We have an obligation to bring glory to the name of God. We do this when he is visible in our life. We have to give an account for our soul and for the souls we have an influence on. This responsibility belongs to each of us. We need to be careful not to turn people away from God. If you turn down the gospel and go in a life of sin, you will be equally accountable for the influence of your life. There is a crown that can be laid up for each of us, but we need to take our responsibility seriously. If you have a Bible, avail yourself of the word of God. You can either fall on the rock, or the rock can fall on you. What is the impact of your life? Are you gathering to Christ or scattering from him?
