Zechariah 3:1-7
The prophet gives us a picture of Joshua the high priest standing before the Lord and Satan standing there to resist. God has plucked the saint out of the path of destruction. We need God to speak for us against Satan that we might have the victory. The high priest changed his clothes when he went into the temple. They had garments they wore before God and garments they wore in the world. The priests weren't to come before God in just anything. This doesn't speak of merely literal garments. There was a change made in the heart. Iniquity = filthy garments. Many are trying to come into God's presence without the proper preparation. The filthy garments are taken and clean linen is provided. If we will go God's way, he will give us a place. Come in and change clothes. What are the "filthy garments"?

Isaiah 64:6
If God doesn't live in our hearts, we are unclean and all our righteousness "is as filthy rags". The rags of morality will not cleanse away our sin. We can't do it on our own.

Psalms 73:6
Pride can bind us up. It will chain you. Some people are dressed in violence and are a menace to themselves and others.

Psalms 109:16-19
If you wear the garment of cursing (wishing evil on others) don't expect to wear the garment of blessing at the same time. If we treat others good and look for ways to wish blessing on others, we will receive blessing.

1 Peter 2:15, 16
If we want to stop the mouths of the gainsayers of the world, treat people good. It is hard to argue with a godly, holy life. It is the will of God that by living right we silence the gainsayers. Our freedom lies in serving God, not seeking acceptance of man. If we could care less how much damage we do, that is a cloak of maliciousness. A cloak of maliciousness doesn't become a saint. Our desire is to help people.

Jude 22-25
Compassion, in some cases, is what is needed. We should reach out to every lost soul, "...hating even the garment spotted by the flesh..." We don't hate the person, but there are things about them that disappoint us. Clean and dirty just don't look good together. Don't allow yourself to be influenced to wear these garments. The grace of God is the only garment that can cover the soul as it needs to be covered. We need not worry so much about staying clean as saving souls. Stay clean and reach out to souls in need.
