1 Peter 3:3-4
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” We often know people as they present themselves to us. There is both an outward and an inward man. The inward is as important as the outward. We need the inward displayed on the outward. People, too often, try to hide the inward man because it isn’t something they want seen. If that is the case, something needs to change.
God wants the inward beauty to be seen. It isn’t just the outward that needs to shine. We shouldn’t have anything to hide. The meek and quiet spirit of the hidden man needs to be seen in us. It is the part that most needs to be seen. Be exactly who you are. Christ should be on display for all to see. The most honest and open person you should ever meet should be a Christian. There shouldn’t be anything to hide.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.
False prophets come in disguise so as to destroy. Eventually the true nature comes out. Keep your eyes on God and follow him. You will know people by their fruits. The nature within eventually shows through. We need God to look at us and see where we’re at. We want God to take out of us anything that would be wrong, even attitudes and thoughts.
There shouldn’t be anything in our lives that we should be ashamed of after God saves us. The world should see the good God has put in us.
1 John 3:18-21
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
Our love needs to be real, in deed and in truth. Be what you are. Love God with all your heart. God knows what is inside. You can hide it from a lot of other folks, but God still sees. Let God clean it out and put something beautiful there for all to see.
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
We want these qualities within. We want this to show. We want God’s approval. People should see Christ in us. We don’t want to just appear to be a Christian, we want to be one. Keep the inner man on display. Show Christ to the world. Real beauty is Christ shining through. Be filled with all the fullness of God.
