Sometimes when we think of "desire" we think of the bad desires. These are profitable desires – to be saved and to be pure and holy.

Psalm 37:3-5

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

God loves to give us our desires when they’re good ones.

Psalm 27:14; Proverbs 13:12

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

Disappointment comes from unrealized hope, but what a blessing when prayer is answered and desire is fulfilled!

We should have the desire to be saved. If you don’t desire it, it won’t happen. "By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;" Hebrews 11:24-25. Moses chose to go God’s way. We can choose that, too. The jailer of Paul and Silas wanted to be saved. Because of his choice, his family chose to be saved.

Desire – to wish for the possession or enjoyment of to a greater or lesser degree. We should want salvation with our whole heart. Desire should be nurtured and encouraged. We "sow in hope…" To have a harvest you can’t "sow and go." It takes strong desire to be saved. God wants us to use what he has given us.

God is more willing to give than we are to receive. God won’t give something bad when you’re looking for the best.

Romans 12:1

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

"…a reasonable service…" It’s my desire to serve God all the way. It’s human nature to be shallow. Get in and get all that God has for you. We have to mean business to get real salvation. Dig until you reach the Rock. Be careful how you build on the foundation.

We desire the good things of God. We desire unity.

Psalm 19:7-10

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than the honey and the honeycomb.

"…the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether." God is fair and right. What God does for us is worth more than any financial gain.

Zechariah 3:1-4; 13:1; 1 John 1:9, 7

And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Holiness is something we must possess in this life.

Psalm 51:16-17; Micah 6:6-8; Hebrews 6:1

For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

There are some things that need to be driven out of Canaan. God has victory for you.

1 Peter 2:2

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby;

Want what God has, so that you can grow. Develop an appetite for things of God.

Psalm 27:4

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

Desire the things of God. "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
