Without Faith in God, you’re nothingBro. David Chancellor

Without God, we’re nothing. If you remove God from the picture, life is pointless.
Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
The seven sons of Sceva thought the power was in just saying the name of Jesus. The power comes in speaking on his behalf out of a relationship with him. These discovered that just speaking the name wasn’t enough. They were notable failures.
"And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?" Who are you? From the spiritual side, the devil and God both know you better than you know yourself. Most people are out looking to find themselves. On your own, you can’t figure it out. To really understand your position in life, you need God to help you figure it out.
When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:) Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.
Man can’t figure out all God has done. The more he finds out the more he discovers how little he knows. "We’re always trying to know the unknowable" – Deming. Do the best you can do with what you know. Put your faith in God. He knows about it all. He can point you in the way you need to go. God holds in his hand all the answers for your life and anything we need an answer to can be found in him. We need God’s help. If we’ll put ourselves in his hand, he’ll take us down the path that will be best for us. You need God to have meaning in your life.
God holds things in his hands and without him, you’re nothing. He knows you exactly for what you are. What are we that God considers us? You’ll never know without God.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
A fool only wants to find himself. We need a real perspective on life. Everything ties back to God. That’s what makes humans what they are. It’s about our relationship to God. Alone we can’t find God; he finds us.
The search that matters is to find God. A competitive attitude won’t help. We’re not necessarily the best. God puts people where he wants them. You’re not invincible. Consider Nebuchadnezzar.
Without God in the picture, there is no significance to you. God gives lasting value to this life. He gives meaning to who we are. God will help you to know what you need to know… that you need him. God can guide you in ways that make your life useful and meaningful.
2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
God knows who belongs to him and who doesn’t. He knows you inside and out. He doesn’t need to sleep. If you’re his, you should depart from iniquity. There’s an obligation that goes with taking Christ’s name. To effectively depart from iniquity you need him with you. He puts your life into context.
Is your relationship with God what it ought to be? To get a right context to life, build it on God. He knows you better than you know yourself.
1 Corinthians 13:9-12
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face; now I know in part; but then I shall know even as also I am known.
This recognizes that we don’t know or can’t explain everything. There are things in life we may never understand. Keep your faith and trust in God. God sees and knows and will work it out for good. With him as our help we’ll get through all right.
There’s coming a day when we’ll be able to understand things we can’t figure out here. Over there we’ll know as we’re known, and it will still be all about God. He knows where he’s going. Where he’s headed is where we want to be. There are things we won’t understand until God helps us see it. In eternity we’ll have a better perspective.
Start walking with God here. It will help us when we get to eternity. Everything else is secondary to God. Are you following God as you should be?
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
We can’t begin to take in all that God knows about us. He can deal with us as we need to be dealt with to help us walk with him. He can fix us up and straighten us out. Ask God to take you through.
