Who Rules You?Bro. David Chancellor

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
God made it proper for us to be partakers
of what he had for us by forgiving us of our sins. He can make our sins a thing
of the past.
"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son…" Much of what calls itself Christianity today fails to build the kingdom of God. The kingdom is defined by who rules you. We were ruled under the power of darkness, but now we’re ruled by a different power. Who rules you? What kingdom you’re in is determined by who rules you. We need to be subject to God. Does God have the rule in your life?
2 Timothy 2:24-26
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
God’s people should help those who are living a life of destruction and point them to God. After you’re saved, the devil shouldn’t be able to take you where he wants you to go. You have a new ruler.
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
This is freedom to serve your new ruler. He rules for your benefit. The devil can no longer take you captive at his will. We’ve come under the power of Christ.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Consecration means completely being given to God. It means wanting what God wants.
And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy. And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
Jesus recognized that all things were possible with God and that he could change the course of events. Sometimes he’ll change the plan and sometimes he’ll help us to go through with the plan. You have to submit to his will and let it win. You have to accept his rule over you. Men want to leave out obedience. If he would rule you, you have to obey him.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Paul is speaking, primarily, about the church and God. We are subject to Christ. We should be submitted to him. We should be willing to do whatever he would have us to do. We are under his will. When Jesus rules over you, his will matters more than what other people are doing. His Spirit should rule over our spirit. We should be subject to him in everything. Our path will be different from the world if Christ is the ruler of us.
1 Corinthians 12:1-3
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
You’re either rejecting Jesus or calling him Lord. The Spirit of God won’t cause you to reject Jesus. The Holy Ghost is how he rules over us. The Spirit must be in us for him to be Lord. He must be in our hearts to do the ruling. He puts the carnal mind out of the way. The cry of our heart should be, "God, rule me." You have to invite him in. For Jesus to be Lord, the Holy Spirit must abide in us. We need the Holy Spirit to bring us into submission to his will. Jesus can’t use you if he doesn’t rule you. Be submitted to him. Be able to tell God, "Thy will be done." To be part of the kingdom of God, he has to rule over you. Commit to God and submit all aspects of your life to his control.
